We have been retained to recruit an exceptional Sales Manager for our client, an established yet growth-oriented UK division of a €200m European Timber & Forest Products group. The UK division is a large stockist of softwoods and other wood products, with a customer base largely consisting of Merchants and End-Users (manufacturers of fencing, pallets, furniture and joinery). The product range comprises of carcassing, fencing, birch lumber, fresh sawn specifications, pallet wood, OSB and Plywood. The company has a strong presence in the South East of England and seeks a talented, energetic sales professional to increase revenue.

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will be joining the company at a particularly exciting time in their history, after a period of change and investment as they embark on a significant growth strategy for the next 5 years.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for pro-actively driving sales growth throughout the South of England through a mixture of managing existing accounts and a heavy dose of securing new business (including a sizeable ‘dormant account’ list). The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the UK Timber industry and associated products and be ready to make a step up and develop a name for themselves with the full backing of an ambitious, dynamic operation.

Performance Objectives:

  • Development, implementation and delivery of sales plans in line with company requirements
  • Maximising revenue by developing strong partnerships with Builders and Timber Merchants, as well as appropriate End-Users, providing sales support across customer base and identifying further opportunities for growth
  • Proactively targeting new business and creating sustainable revenue streams through diligent management of territory – demonstrating a high level of energy in getting out and making things happen
  • Demonstrating a willingness to learn the finer details of the company’s product range and be able to cross-sell to existing and new customers
  • Handling daily enquiries / orders in conjunction with colleagues – ensuring customer service expectations are met
  • Representing the company through well developed and articulate communication, both written and verbal to ensure that the company’s reputation for quality and service is upheld
